Message: you may have sediment in your gas tank that over the time of a long trip partialy clogs the only fuel filter on that '94 The "filter" consists of a "sock" on the fuel pump inlet. After your Dak sets a while some of that gunk may fall off the sock and back into the tank and make it driveable again until the next time you run it for a while and the gunk builds up again. It might be worth while to drop the take and clean it out completely. It won't take much to do that if you are handy with tools. Do yourself a favor though and make sure the tank is almost empty before you do. A full 22 gallon tank can weigh around 180 lbs. and empty one will weigh only around 20 lbs.

Message: I figure that if you have any ability with tools you could do that yourself, or with a bit of help. Use a brand name carb or fuel injection cleaner as a solvent to claen out the tank.

Message: UPDATE!!
Well since the dealer offered no help in fixing my erratic idle I took it upon myself to find a solution.
I should let you know that I am a second owner at 33000 miles, so I don't know if the rough, low idle has always been a problems with this truck (2000 4.7L Dakota).
Well after the throttle body was cleaned to no avail, I decided it wouldn't hurt to try some fuel system cleaner. I think the brand was B12 Chemtool? But any good strong cleaner should work. The type I used said "Do not use more than one can every 4000 miles (doesn't harm Catalytic converters or other emissions equipment".
Well I only had a had a half tank of gas even though it can treat up to 22 gallons (extra strength, HA, HA).
After the 1/2 tank was gone I filled the tank and since I filled the tank I haven't had any problems with erratic/ rough idle. I noticed that before when the idle was rough if I turned on the A/C the RPM's went from 500 to 700. Now the truck runs at 700 at idle without the A/C, and everything is fine.
I will perform an extended test to see if the problem returns? So far I am thrilled!!
P.S. There are some gimmic fuel injector cleaners out there. I suggest looking for something extra strong like I found or something made by a good name like BG products.
