Subject: Water Under Pass Carpet TSB 23-010-04 IP: Logged
Message: I took the Dakota in for an oil change today and
asked the dealer to repair whatever leak was
causing water to pool under the front passenger
side carpet. Turns out this is covered
under "TSB 23-010-04A SEP 04 A/C - Water Leaks
Onto Passenger Front Floor". The dealer
noted "Put sealant around HVAC housing verified
repairs".
I bet "24-013-05 AUG 05 A/C - Musty Odors
When Hot or Humid" is related. I will ask them
to look into it next time.

Message: AJ
Dealers can't and don't charge anything for a TSB repair. TSB is a Technical Service Bulletin. Just short of a recall, but still free.

Message: Todd: After I wrote you the question I looked at the TSB closer. It has an estimated time of .3 hours for the DAK so at roughly $100/hr I'm quessing it should cost about $30. Thx>>AJ

Message: I'm not that hip on all this technical lingo, but I do some work on my truck. So would this be the top pipe, bottom pipe or both.
Thanks

Message: I have a 2002 Dakota with the 4.7 V-8. You need to remove an aluminum heat sheild on the firewall on the AC side. One nut is easy to remove and the other is very hard. I used an 11mm open end wrench and taped an extension on it and moved the nut 1/2 turn at a time. You can't do this with engine hot as the exhaust is in the way. Once the sheild is removed get a half inch 90 degree street elbow in PVC from a hardware store. You will see the AC condensate drain, I used RTV as an adhesive and stuck it in. This makes the water run down and away from the firewall and keeps the water from running back into the cab. You need to trim the corner off the sheild and re attach.

Message: Is there a TSB out for the same problem on the drivers side? I can't
figure out where the water's coming from or why it gets worse even
when it's not raining out and the trucks just sitting.

Message: I have a 2004 Club cab Dakota. Bought it used in Sept. 09. OMG!!! Passenger floor FULL of water after using the A/C OR Defroster. Makes it a viscious cycle! Fogs up from all the standing water so have to use defroster which pours MORE water in. So appreciative of this information. I'm going armed with this info to the dealer. If mine won't fix it for free, as some reportedly have, I'll take it to a friend and see if he can get it done. Thx,...another frustrated FIRST TIME Dodge owner.

Message: Yes you just need an o-ring on the outside drain tube. A $1.70 at a parts house. Takes 5 min to put it on!!
