Subject: need help with 1999 RC 3.9 IP: Logged
Message: This has been ongoing for a year now but it has gotten really bad now. When I first start up the truck it studders really bad and my intake is making a really loud sucking noise like as if the truck was a vacuum cleaner sucking in air. This isn't too bad until I put it into gear and start to go, it won't even move like as if all the horsepower was taken away. The more gas I give it the slower it goes and it use to work when I floored it that it would shoot off and be fine but now when I floor it, it almost dies and the engine shakes really bad. I thought it was something to do with the vacuum line but now I have no idea. Also when I start to give it a lot of gas there is a ton of backfiring coming from inside the engine compartment. I'm clueless as to what it could be, usually when something goes wrong with it I can fix it. I have replaced the rear speed sensor in the diff., new muffler, new intake, new spark plugs, new EGR valve, new spark plug wires, new rear oxygen sensor, new alternator, new battery, new water pump, new belt, new tensioner, new fan, new PCV valve in which all of these things have not corrected the problem. When the engine is fully warmed up though it does stop the problem but until it gets to its normal operating temp. of 200, it studders and bogs down like crazy. It is a 2WD automatic btw if that helps. I have taken it to the dealership and they "could not" replicate the problem and took $80 from me for nothing, so instead of going back to them I am making a post here since y'all have helped me on other problems with my truck like my balljoints. Any help will greatly be appreciated, thanks-Derek
