Subject: reset pcm IP: Logged
Message: 97 Dodge Dakota 318 v8 4x4 automatic
Failed emission inspection. My PCM Module is not reconfigureing the computer. 4 Months ago I replaced my battery and I gess since that time my pcm has not reset its' values. Only time check engine lt came on was when working on front brakes I accidently cut a wire to abs system. Started the truck and check lt came on. shut off and repaired the wire. Started truck and no light. Whats up? Do I just need to boot up the pcm (reset values) somehow?
thanks Rick

Message: you could try resetting it. to reset mine, looking over the passenger fender at the PCM, i unplug the connection nearest the firewall for about a minute or two then reconnect it. that way you don't have to fool with disconnecting the batt and losing all your radio presets and clock.

Message: I fixed it.....All I had to do was remove negative battery cable / turn ignition key to start position and hold for 20 seconds / reconnect neg batt cable ( with out sparking) / drove 140 miles and retested / passed....
thanks everyone for all the help.
