Message: I went for a drive with the service manager in several new 05's in the lot, and they all had the same kind of "wiggle" going down the road...just like mine. Thankfully, the dealer agrees that this is NOT normal, and called upper tier support to see what's going on. I mentioned the Chrysler TSB #05-004-05 to them that was discussed earlier...this was supposed to be the fix, but it turns out that the replacement axles are also screwed up. According to my dealer, an enhanced TSB to 05-004-05 will be coming out in 30-60 days, and will specify modified (re-tooled) axles. The corrected axles do not exist yet. The dealer claims that the current axles are not only not true, but that there is too much play in the axle bearings which leads to the vibration. I'm also experiencing the pulsing from the brakes when slowing from moderate highway speeds...they tell me that this will be addressed in the enhanced TSB as well, since these are related issues. I hope all of this works out...I'm getting tired of this damn vibration. Good luck to you all, I'll keep you updated.

Message: end conclusion the 05 dakotas are POS. that sucks my 98 has 152000 miles and still runs strong.
as for the brakes mine went out on the freeway and i almost kill a vet because of it. 2 weeks & $1,300 later the dealer said they fix it. the rear brakes went out going through some canyons the same day. i was pissed but had to laugh. :)
f**king stealership!
my neighbor has a 05 F-450 and that POS is in the shop for everything. leaking heads, leaking rearend, leaking diesel fuel, leaking trans, O and the ball joints went bad at 10,000 miles. hehe haha. lol
it doesn't have a brake problem, yet.

Message: Yep the 05 Dakota's are the worst trucks out there. I am currently taking my problems to court/arbitration in Vancouver BC, Canada against Dodge. I am making sure they take the vehicle back. I am in the same boat as everyone, and I will never buy domestic trucks/autos again.
If there are other Canadians logging onto this site and want to get out of their lease/purchase visit this site:
http://www.camvap.ca/
The dealer and DiamlerChrysler Canada didn't even mention that this process is around. go figure!! they know their product sucks and don't care at all about the consumers. Typical corporation.
Good Luck I will let this site know how the court battle goes. I will know in 70 days....
Good luck everyone

Message: Dean my friend it appears that you got the help that you were after. I am quessing that the difference in USA and Canadian law has you in court/arbitration as using the lemon law may not have been an option. Good Luck and if we get our trip to Portland, and then on to Seattle perhaps we can visit and see your wonderful country in 2006. Hope that January turns out in your favor.
Glad that my advice did help in a basic way, and that you got more detailed information from the other readers. Ernie

Message: Dean, why don't you just go have the enhanced TSB's put in your truck! Sound like that is the ultimate fix. I'm sure the dealer would rather replace those than get sued or whatever leagal action your taking. Then you don't have to hate domestic trucks. For me if two different parts on a truck go bad more than twice in 30,000 miles, then I would take legal action. If they weren't willing to replace it or give me my money back. Don't let your pu$$y get hurt over one thing gone wrong that is an easy fix. That just makes people look childish.

Message: Well you guessed it I too have the brake Vibe/Grab problem. To make matters worse I am in Iraq and my wife with two toddlers is having to deal with it for me. Right now I have the truck setting at the dealership awaiting some sort of fix from Dodge. It has been there for a month now. They say they have changed out the drums but the problem is still there. I have sent them an e-mail telling them to keep the truck and see if they can convince me it is safe for my wife and children to drive. Has anyone with a 4x4 quad cab had this issue? Right now I have the quad cab with magna V-8 Automatic Transmition and tow package. Wouldn’t mind upgrading to full size or the Dakota quad 4x4 if it hasn’t had any of these issues. The worst part of this is that I am here in Iraq with the occasional stray mortar coming over my head wearing full battle rattle fixing air planes that fight against the war on terrorism and I can’t deal with this problem in person. Even if they offered to give me a new truck it will be months before I get home to get all the dealings under way. Any one got any ideas to help get the dealer to upgrade/swap/ or even reimbursement? I have been making payments for a truck my wife can’t even drive. That really aggravates me the most. I do want to thank the folks with positive feedback that is what made me continue to read these postings. So many places only have folks with negative postings and no positive ones.

Message: Hi, I recently bought a 05 Dakota, it was fine until I got to about 1800Km. After that the engine light would flash at least twice a week. Now the brakes aren't working properly. When I gear down to stop, it does a really bad shimmy. I've had the rotors replaced at 5000Km, and was told I'm riding my brakes. The problem stopped for about 1000Km and has started up again! This is rediculous, You buy a new vehicle in the hopes that it wouldn't have problems.....

Message: Please contact me drichards. I'm highly upset because I originally had the break shutter problem that I had fixed and now I'm having issues with the back end shaking at 20mph or higher on my vehicle. I took it in assuming it was under warranty at only 17k miles but they are telling me there is a problem with tire/rim combo and they have to do a high speed balancing adjustment to make a noticable difference. They also want me to pay $70 for this! I know its not a lot, but c'mon this is a known issue... the guy himself said it was common. I'm so fed up w/ all of this.

Message: You are not fixing the problem by going back to Dodge for brakes. Eat the 150$ for parts and go get decent front pads and rotors from Pep Boys or Advance auto. Put those on and the vibration and shimmy problems when shimmying will go away. No matter how many times you go back and harass the dealer for goodwill brake replacement or rotor machining they put the same crappy parts back on. Stop wasting your time. Pay more for aftermarket quality so it won't be an issue anymore. I am so happy I spent the 200$ to get front pads and rotors on my own and have the dealership install them. For awhile there I was at the point where I thought you were supposed to feel like you were in the middle of an earthquake every time you pressed the brake pedal. I compleely forgot what vibration-free braking feels like until I through the MOPAR pads and rotors in the trash.
