Subject: Repainting My Dak IP: Logged
Message: I'm sure that most any of you have heard of the infamous news about paint chipping/fading/flaking off on 97-99 dakotas...
Well i am pretty sure that i had a combination of all three of these symptoms. First my fenders, then the hood, and finally the roof. Basically, i got pissed off with the rediculous prices that shops wanted to media blast my truck and repaint, and the fact that dodge didn't do anything to help. So i grabbed some 80 grit sandpaper, a disc sander, and a dust mask, and began brining my rig down to bare metal. I am about half way done right now, and it has a been a hell of a job. I've been stripping all the parts off of it (molding, bumpers, handles, lights, ect.) for the real deal. If anyone has any tips for me as far as to speed up the process, throw some words my way. I am gonna prime it myself and have the color coat professionally done. Any tips would be good...
