I own a 2001 2WD Dakota Sport regular cab, automatic, six cylinder. My lovely wife bought it for me in May, 2004, as a birthday present. Nice truck, she paid a little too much, it had 37,000 miles (out of warranty of course). The next day she handed me the payment book. Happy Birthday!

Anyway, the truck has a squeaking noise in the front end. The Dodge dealer thought it was the U Joint, replaced it, problem not fixed. My mechanic of six years at Firestone thought it was the wheel bearings (I did too), replaced them, problem not fixed. Brakes? Steering column?

To complicate matters, the truck makes a humming noise on the highway (sometimes) when I hit 65 mph or 70 mph. I wiggle the steering wheel or go over a bump and the noise stops.

Everything seems to come from the front end. I haven't had the ball joints replaced yet, Dodge told me July they needed replaced, thank goodness for the recall!

Has anyone out there experienced the same problem? I'm pretty much lost and so are the mechanics.

Please email me kpeterso@hiline.net if you can assist. Thanks.
