Subject: Auto tranny redline and stuck in 3rd IP: Logged
Message: Dak99,v6,auto, 4x4.
If possible, I need some feedback. I was driving on the expressway yesterday when suddenly my tranny started acting up. If i would barely leave my foot off the gas it would downshift quickly, but the RPM's would be at like 3000. So then if I pressed slightly on the gas, it would upshift with a thud. Then as i was slowing down and getting off of the offramp, the truck stuck in gear. So i pressed on the gas hard to see what RPM's it would shift at, and I ended up red-lining it, so I hurried up and took my foot off of the gas. And still, It never shifted past 3rd. (pretty sure it was third) So, to solve this problem, i had to shut off my truck, and restart. Then it was fine, until this morning. It did the same thing. A couple weeks I felt my tranny slipping between 2 and 3rd. Any suggestions?
Thanks in Advance!

Message: I have a 2003 v6 4x4 and have trouble with my tranny slipping and shifting hard when going up hills. They replaced a sensor a few months ago (not a recall but a bulletin) told me I had to drive it for 500 miles so it could figure out my driving habits. I figured 2,000 miles was enough time to figure me out. I still have the problem and they cannot find out what is wrong. They tell me it is normal. I am looking at Toyota, GMC anyone that will do better.
