Finally our voices have been heard. Last year I went round and round with my dealer about the noise from my ball joints after I first heard of an proposed class action lawsiut regarding the durangos. The last thing they told me was that the issue was only focused on the durangos because they don't use the same ball joints that of the dakotas. They told me that my ball joints where with in specs. Yeah! OK you SOB's. So, I held out hopeing for something like this to happen. He he , it paid off! Recalls will be issued next month. My dealer has no option. Suckers!

I agree completely. When I bought my truck 3 years ago, I had researched every smaller truck on the market. My final decision was on the Dakota...almost solely on looks...and I still love how it looks...

...but I can't say I love the company. First off, after buying my truck and having the dealer title it for me I was surprised to find out from the RMV that it had been titled with 30k more miles on it than what was on my odometer. The odometer disclosure statement that I signed and brought home with me had 9k typed onto it...the one sent to the RMV had 39k written over the typing in pen. The only way for me to prove what the actual mileage was? Take it to another dealer and pay $100? BS...

...then I had noise coming out of my rear differential...I take it to the dealer, who couldn't tell me anything other than I needed a $1500 complete rebuild...I doubt they even opened it up to check what was wrong. When I took it down the road to the trans shop they were able to tell me specifically that I had chipped teeth on two spider gears and that replacing them + bearings would be $700, although $200 of that had to go to Dodge as they were the only manufacturer of those gears...

...and then there was my 60k inspection, where they didn't have anything to tell me about the noise I pointed out in my front left wheelwell when I turned, but they certainly were quick to offer to turn the little wheel in my rear brakes for $100 and about $1k worth of similar bs work...in the end, that inspection essentially got me an oil change for $150.

...but at least they're now replacing those ball joints for free...but they've already lost me as a customer. I'm going to buy a car something in the next couple years, but it certainly will not be a Dodge.

Later,
Bobby

PS - Are there any auto manufacturers that allow you to buy parts directly from them over the Internet. It annoyed me that I had to get replacements for the "4x4" and "DODGE" stickers on my tailgate from the dealer when they seem like easily mailable items, but I can't say that I know any auto manufacturer would have let me buy them direct. If there *is* one, however, they're going to get an edge for my next vehicle purchase decision.

TheBigBobby.... Where did you find your replacement decals? My truck has a new tailgate on it from a boat trailer being rammed through the old one. So I have been looking for the "Dodge" and the "4X4" stickers. I have found some online, but they are kinda gay looking and def. aftermarket.

-I love my Dodge. When I bought it, I HAD TO HAVE A DODGE, cause I loved the looks and the size. But after owning it for less than a year, and all the problems I have already ran into...never again. I think I like the new Sonoma's. But I think to be safe, next vehicle will be a Stang, or an Import. First car i had was a Celica, it ran, and ran, and ran, even after not having an oil change for 15k miles.

I could only get them from the dealership. They didn't have my color in stock and said they'd have to order them (I haven't done it yet).

On Parts.com I found some dealerships that would ship parts to you (not Dodge themselves), but oddly the only items they have for the tailgate are the latch and handle.

Later,
Bobby
