Subject: Am in in wind tunnel???? IP: Logged
Message: Just found this great board and wanted to say hello..
We just purchased an '04 Dakota Quad Cab V-6.. The front windshield has an awful air pocket, it's rather annoying. It sounds like it's not completely sealed. The wind noise is so awful it sounds like being in a wind tunnel. This happens anywhere from 30MPH and higher. Anyone else experienced this??
Thanks in advance..
Ps, Is this a great board to join as a paying member? I'm thinking about it, any thoughts?

Message: My '04 QC has a terrible wind noise too. My '03 CC did not have the noise.
I thought mine was coming from the driver and passenger side windows so I installed wind deflectors on all 4 side windows and no change in noise. I think I'll have to bring it into the dealer.

Message: I misspelled my post subject. Oops
I just got my QC back from the dealer yesterday. My engine light came on, so they fixed that & said they adjusted my sputter or miss between 48 & 55.
They said the technician & the sales manager drove it and neither one could hear the wind noise. Funny, I heard it as soon as I was half a mile down the road leaving the dealer. I'm frustrated, WTF? We did put the side vent visors on, you can clearly still hear the noise from the front windshield area.
I'm considering having a second dealer opinion & possibly a different mechanics shop check it out. Other than the wind noise, my QC is great.

Message: Return to the dealer and ask a service writer or mechanic to accompany you on a short test drive to isolate and repair a wind noise from the front windshield. You drive & recreate the condition, with the mechanic / service writer in the vehicle. If you're breif, polite and articulate you command respect & action.
For the home mechanics, a doctor-style stethoscope is an excellent tool here. Take the tip off and use the hose to locate the exact source of the noise. The figure out what to do about it.

Message: I had the same problem which was recently fixed. If your dealer hasn't found the problem, let me know and I'll give you the name and number of the Dodge mechanic who fixed mine. Good luck.

Message: Had the same problem with my 04 club cab. Test drove with a mechanic. Didn't get 1/4 mile and he said "yep, pretty loud. He listened with a stethescope, brought it back to the shop and used some kind of ultrasonic detector. Both inconclusive. They tried resealing the windshield, no help. Brought it back and they replaced the windshield-problem solved.
