Message: I've replaced my resistor block twice since I bought my 1995 Dak new. Got the interior ripped out right now trying to find the source of a leak, and noticed the damn connector smoking on the block again under the hood. Guess it is time to replace it again. May have to try and get another connector too. Any one elses look like it is about burnt up?

Message: First of all thanks, great help. I would have never figured out that the resistor block was the problem with my '01 Dakota QC. I bought the resistor for $9 bucks and installed it,better that having to pay the dealer god knows how much they would have charged me. Again thanks to all for your help.

Message: Thanks, guys (and gals). 93 Dakota burned out a resistor block. (Originally thought it was the blower motor but this forum saved that heartache.) $11.25 at the Dodge dealer. I was going to upload some pictures for ease of finding the mounting location and symptoms, but couldn't figure out how.

Message: Thank You all for great advise. Blower went out about a month ago. Started to take dash apart to get at blower motor and decided not to waste all afternoon on it and did some research instead, found this site. It was the resistor. Jumper wire was corroded at the terminal and broken. Tried to solder it, didn't work, bent the wire into one of the other slots and worked fine, will be getting new part later. To the person who won't buy a Dodge again, I have a '92 Dakota 3.9 with 228,000 plus miles on it. Same engine and transmission, second starter, third water pump and second radiator. You won't get that out of a Ford or Chevy. The Ford will blow a head gasket at approx. 40,000 miles and the Chevy will start blowing blue smoke out the tail pipe around same milage.

Message: Girlfriend has a 99 stratus. Lost low speeds on blower for the second time in 6 months. Resistor & connections are clean but the resistor is bad again. I've heard that crysler had a bad batch of blower motors (drawing to much current for the risistor to handle) that could be causing this problem. But it looks like the problem has been around for to many years. Anybody tried replacing the motor & Resistor at the same time? And did it help? I don't want to dig out the blower motor if it won't make a difference.
Thanks,
No blue smoke.
P.S. I'm sticking to my chevy truck. 140K miles & nothing but fluids, brakes & tires and it gets used like a truck.

Message: I've got a 2001 QC that seems to have all the usual problems. The most recent being the blower quit about a month ago, I finally found this board, thank goodness and troubleshot it down to the resistor card P/N 04885635AB for $11.10 thanks for all the helpfull posts. Now if I could just fix the front end clunking, the musty smell in the A/C, the whiny rear end, the hard to crank starting problem, the erratic idle, the front rotors that constantly warp, the sloppy rear end and that little lunging forward when your coming to a stop problem I would have a great truck! But what more would you expect with 38000 miles.

Message: Bought an 01 QC 4X4 last year (used) and shortly after the purchase the blower motor quit on all speeds except high. The dealer fixed it (under warrantee). I later found out that it was the blower resistor after I read some of the postings on this site. The blower motor on my wife's 01 Chrysler Sebring just quit the other day. Checked the 30 amp fuse, it was OK. Went right to the blower resistor and replaced it ($4.25) and back in operation! Thanks people for your postings, it saved a lot of time and money.
One quick note, I've owned Chevy trucks (garbage) and Ford trucks and an Explorer (bigger pieces of garbage) in the past. This QC is fabulous! Even my wife likes to drive it and she is not a truck fan. Very roomy for a smaller truck and extremely comfortable. We frequently travel between NH and my daughter's college in Savannah, GA and always take the truck. It has been trouble free (except for the resistor) and the 4.7 is an awsome engine. Smooth, quiet, powerful and relatively easy on gas for a V8 (average 18 mpg) and 20 on trips). Have not experienced (knock on wood) any of the problems listed in some of these posts. As it stands now, my next truck will be another QC.

Message: Can anyone describe how to change the resistor block in a 1998 Dodge Stratus? Is it located under the passenger side near the glove compartment like other posts have suggested in trucks?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.
