Has anyone had any problems with the manual tranny in a V6 dakota? I have a '98 sport 4x4 with 127k miles on it. It has been showing no signs what-so-ever of having any trouble. I have been driving it 200mi round trip every day for the last 3 weeks and experienced no problems, but then yesterday 30 miles form home something in it broke. I downshifted @ a stoplight and it didn't want to come out of gear, then when i went to put it back in gear, it wouldn't go into gear. It's like trying to push the shifter through a wall trying to get in gear. The tow truck guy is a mech. and he got in and messed with it and said it was most likely a tranny prob. Any suggestions or similar experiences?

the clutch had decent pressure on it when it happened. I had it fixed and just got it back today. It turns out i had a really slow leak of tranny fluid and bascially burnt the whole damn thing up. I had no idea it had gotten tha bad, and my (old :) ) mechanic was supposed to have been checking ALL of my fluids every oil change, but he wasn't so now he's not getting any more of my business. lol. i had the tranny rebuilt to the tune of about $1300 and went ahead and had them replace the clutch as well. Oh well, there went my money for my new rifle...
