Message: Mine wass a 15$ resistor module that is easy to change, right above the pass floor mat, two screws and it's out. note, theres a lock on the electrical connector that you must release first... I lost all fan speeds in winter when it was about -35C, yuk.
PS, The heater fan is also very easy to change on these trucks, three screws (01 QC). I tried it first as I thought it was at fault since I lost all fan speeds it couldn't be the resistor module, but it was, LOL.

Message: My 94 v6 dakota had the same prob it was the resistor module that was burnt out on mine it is located on the pass side fire wall on the engine side held in place with 2 sheet metal screws that are not threaded all the way so you have to lightly pry out on the unit so the screws will back all the way out.Finding this info on this site saved me a lot of time to do a simple repair Thanks to all who post here

Message: My 01 Dakota runs great. The only problem I have had is with the blower sending air to the floor, defroster and vents work great. Had it fixed at dealer 2 yrs ago (said the computor had to be reset or something). Now its happening again. When I asked a mechanice at the dealer he said the computor probably has to be reset again. Anybody know anything about this problem. Is there a TSB ??????
Thanking you in advance.

Message: I have just started having a blower problem on my '01. The lower three speeds work fine but the top speed doesn't. Worked fine yesturday. Any suggestions.
By the way, I aways thought the high speed worked even with the resistor out for safety reasons so you wouldn't loose your defrost. The switch on high speed bypassed the resister. My Chrylser Laberon converitible was that way. Just wondering.

Message: I have a similar problem Last year the first setting or lowest stopped working. Then this morning the first 3 seetings aren't working only full blast works. That is way to overkill for me. I need to get this fixed. Do you think it is the switch (if so what is it called and where would I purchase one) or do you think it could be the resistor?
Thanks for any help.

Message: I have a 93 ext cab. Last winter my blower stopped working. I work for O'Reilly Auto parts and I picked up a new blower motor thinking that was it. Looked through the manual and saw that it would be a task to change, I was not looking forward to this task as I have never done it before. A fellow employee disagreed that it was the blower, since I asked him to help me replace it. My wife searched Yahoo! for the problem and took her here. Heater resistor on the passenger side firewall under the hood. I called our warehouse for the part and they told me DEALER ITEM ONLY!. Well of course, usually is with Dodge. So I called our local dealer, which I take parts to frequently, "Yes we sell it and no we do not have one." Would take a week to get it. Called a dealer twenty minutes away. Hade it next day. $13.00 fix. Better than $50.00 for blower motor. So i recommend checking it first. Just gotta know where it is located.

Message: Replaced the heater blower resister and that solved the problem. I looked at the shop manual and the schematic indicated that the top speed should work with the resister bad but in real life that wasn't the case. Resistor was under the dash by the glovebox. Easy to replace and a $16 fix. The old resistor looked like a circuit board so anything probably was possible. The new one used wires wrapped around a ceramic insert. A much better design. Hope it lasts.

Message: In my 1995 dakota the blower for a/cand heat worked sporadically. and wiggling the switch jus right worked ocasionally. Found the problem. the slide switch that controls the blower itself burned out. If yours has this same problem Check salvage yards NO PARTS STORES WILL HAVE IT. I ahve tried andthe dodge crysler places only have the whole hvac unit... but for 350 bucks i said Fu** that. or you can bypass it by installing a toggle switch.. your call
