Message: No need to disconnect the battery. Just unplug the rear connector on the PCM for 2 minutes. Then you won't have to reset your clock and radio.

Message: The light came on for code P 0303 Misfire cyl #3.
I have not checked it yet. This is on an '03 full size pickup w/4.7 engine.
I bought a code reader. about as cheap as taking a day off work and easier than arguing with a dealer.

Message: A cylinder misfire code will clear itself after a certain number of ignition cycles. If it doesn't then the problem is still there and will throw the code again anyway. In either case I wouldn't bother clearing it.

Message: lizatte, chances are the check engine light has nothing to do with changing the dist cap. you need to get the code that tripped the light. Autozone and a couple of others will read codes for free. if the lights on and you just reset it without finding the problem it will come sback on again.
