Subject: Shift from 2nd to 3rd very rough on 01' 4.7

I just recently had to get a new tranny put in because my first one was leaking fluid. Now, when my truck shifts from 2nd to 3rd a strong jolt is sent though the truck?? And it only happens the first shift from 2nd to 3rd during a trip. If I slow down and it shifts back down to 2nd and then I speed up again the shift to 3rd is smooth. Does anyone know what this rough shift is? I might just take it to the dealer, get it checked out, but when the mechanic drives it, it prob won't jolt with my luck.

I have no idea what would cause it to shift hard once and then switch to a smooth shift. I sure would like to know how to make this transmission shift harder all the time. I don't like the slush box shifts.

This shift is with the 45FRE tranny's. What happens is is that the tranny "hunts" for the proper 3rd gear to switch into depending upon hardness of acceleration, gradient of road, etc. This "multispeed" tranny that Daimler Chrysler cleverly put in this truck isn't meant for a truck, it's meant for a luxury car. It actually has 2 3rd gears or something of the like and it has a hard time choosing which one to go into. Go easy on the gas into 3rd and it usually won't do it.
