Subject: plenum gasket???? IP: Logged
Message: I have read a few things about bad plenum gaskets on here, and I had a question. I hope someone can point me in the right direstion plz. I have a 99 5.2 4x4 with 39,000 miles on it. I bought the truck new it has always had mobile 1 oil used in it. I am finding that about evert 1500 miles i am losing 2.5 to 3 qts of oil. I can find no leaks it does not smoke there is not oil in the water the plugs are a nice golden brown. I replaced the pvc valve and i cant find any sings of oils blow back by the pvc valve. The dealer says there is nothing wrong with the truck or the plenum gaskets. I am getting very upset over this with the low miles on the truck. Does this sound like a plenum gasket problem to you guys?? and do you think there is a way I can get the dealer to fix it now that thw truck is out of waranty?? This problem started at about 32,000 miles and ther dealer is aware but says the truck is fine and i am nuts.
Thanks for the help in advance James

Message: They should have done a vacuum test to determine if it is leaking or not. You can see the TSB for that here. Since you have a documented history of taking it in to be checked for this, I would demand that a vaccumm test be done and repairs done if needed with Dodge paying for it.
