Message: Hello,
I have a 2000 regular cab with an infinity am/fm/cd that sound great but both door speakers crackle under bass stress but not all the time. do you think they could be blown or maybe the crossovers are shot. Does anyone know what were standard equipment on the infinity upgrade as far as speakers? also I can barely hear the rear speakers at all even toggled all the way to rear.
Thanks

Message: your speakers ned to be replaced as you keep them turned up so loud you have small rips in the cones that rattle and vibrate. you are also slowly going deaf due to the sound being too loud!

Thanks for the reply but I have only had it for a couple of months so my hearing is still o.k. although I hear the last owner seems to be ignoring everyone lately.

Message: I have had really good luck with the guys from Crutchfield.com they will help you with mods if you want to upgrade. They also have great deals on returned merchandise but you have to ask for the open box stuff. It may be worth the phone call.

Message: I have a '00 QC 4x4 with the same sound system and my left front speaker sounds as if it has blown out. The first thing I did was asked my 11y.o. son if he had been listening to his rap crap with the bass and volume maxxed out. Of course he said no. So, it's interesting to know that another '00 has a similar problem

Message: Infinity upgrade sound package has a amp under the passenger side kick panel and the Infinity component speakers, seperate tweeter and woofer, in the front doors and coaxial speakers in the rear. You can buy the Infinity 6.5" components as replacements for the front but you have use a spacer on the woofer as the stock is 6.75". You should be checking out the head unit and the amp if you can not get any sound from the coax's in the rear.

Message: Hey There,
Thanks so much for the detailed answer.I will have a Pro check it out as I don't have the expertise to test the amp myself. I will pull the kicker and check it out visualy. I suppose I could use an external speaker jumped from the amp to hear if it sounds any better? (process of elimination). But beyond that a Pro might be worth it. Thanks again for you in depth answer.

Message: I have a 2001 QC with the Infinity package. My left rear door speaker would buzz like there was no tomorrow whenever the volume was turned up. I discovered that the mount that holds the tweeter was loose and all I did to remedy the problems was to tighten up the mount for the tweeter and now I can blast the stereo without any buzz.

Message: Hello,
Thanks for the input guys. I Found a pair of Infinity 50.5 51/4 in mid-bass only on eBay for $.99 yes 99 cents ( the shipping and handling was $15.) I have ordered a pair of reducer brackets and baffles to mount them since they are smaller than the 6.75 standard but for the price i only nedded the mid-bass as the tweets work fine so I'm all set. I would suggest to anyone out there to be EXTREMELY CAREFUL !!!! When pulling off the door panels. The inside door handle rod attachment inside the panels is very delicate and mine broke off. I re-drilled a hole and re-attached the rod to it, but I was lucky I didn't have to order a new one. Well I think I'm all set now. Thanks for everyones input. I hope all this chat can help others as well.

Message: Chris,
I have a 1993 Dakota extended cab with the same problem. The rear speakers have never worked w/ the factory AM/FM, but I just bought a head unit and replaced the speakers. Every time I try to fade, I get crackling out of the fronts and very little music. Any luck on your problem?

Message: You know,
ever heard of planned obsolescence?
Just about ANY speaker, house, auto, etc., will have the cones rot away, crack, split, after a few years, inversly proportional to the volume.
I once had some Cerwin-Vega subwoofers, that I had to 'regasket' (shops will do it), for a fraction of the cost of the speakers.
I ordered my 2001 built with the infinity system in my Quad cab. The tweeters on top of the front door will last, but I've already replaced all four of my door speakers. Doing this will alomst always require using the spacer to keep them off your window mechanism by going to deep into your door.

Message: On my 2002 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab the rear speakers are out and so is the passenger side front speaker. I read somewhere that if I use 6.75 Kappas that are 2.4 deep they will fit in both fronts and rears, but the newest Kappas seem to have an oversized tweeter. Does anyone know what diameter the actual factory tweeter is, and if all Infinity 6 speaker systems for the 2002 Dodge had amps in the passenger side kick panel?

Message: I crank my 2002 Dakota Infinity system up to 25-30 all the time, especially Nirvana and such, and it has been sweet since new until this week when an OUTRAGEOUS crackle developed in the driver's side door lower speaker. Pulled it out and found the cone gasket starting to rot away so I mended it with RTV. Works great as long as there is still enough good foam gasket to work with. Like one of the above posters, I replaced the foam gaskets on a pair of classic speakers (Advent's) for a pittance and they sound great. Now that I know what size and type Dodge speakers I need for the future, I'll shop around and replace all at some point, but for now, Garth, party on.

Message: I have a '00 QC Dodge Dakota and my back right speaker is blown. Now this is my first time dealing with ordering speakers, I'm looking at a set of Sony Xplōd™ XS-GT1627A from crutchfield.com, this is probably a very stupid question but I need to know, how many speakers come in a box??? Is it 2?? Should I order 2 boxs to insure that I can replace the front door speakers and the back door speakers? I know someone is probably laughing while reading this ha but I really need to know. I'm wanting to put an entire new system in my truck and I want to make sure I do it right.
