 Subject: 2001 dakota transfer case

I just received a notice in the mail that the transfer case may slip into neutral and cause the truck to role while its parked. There seems to be a problem with the program used with it. I showed this to my dealer and they are currently fixing the problem. Any questions feel free to email me!

I received the same thing. It is goin in tomorrow. S'posed to be a 30 minute fix. We'll see...

Yep, i got the same thing. When i took it to my dealer, they where more than happy to just slide me in the line. Got done in less than 30mins. I love my dealer. :)

You had bette luck/service than me. They were happy to take me in, but then I wasn't too reassured with the fact they said, "Well, we got one of these in here before and our guy is trying to figure yers out." They had some trouble getting the computer to "talk" to my truck's chip but when it was all done, I guess everything was OK. I had just got it and hadn't even used 4Low yet. I was just more concerned that they would brreak something rather than fix it from the conversation. But after getting it back, the first thing I did was throw it in gear and it seemed to work fine. I guess the new fix makes the shift light blink on the new selection until it i fully locked in, but mine just went right in, no time to blink.

I haven't received a recall yet! When I put my truck in drive or reverse, it won't go. It revs as if it is neutral. Dodge has checked my transmission a total of four times and they say that my truck is suppose to have play in the transmission?? I dont' think so! Could someone contact me so I can get a copy of their recall notice?

I dont have a copy of the recal but i do have the number...Recall #975, this recall is for ALL 2001 Dakotas, I have no idea why u havent recieved yours in the mail, I would complain to the dealership on that one, also the tranny does have a little play, but if it is revving in gear then there is a problem.

He may not of gotten a recall because they fixed it before he bought it. Or found the problem before they built his truck.

Or the recall didn't come because it isn't a 4x4.
The recall is for the transfer case, not the transmission.

HEY ANY BODY HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE LOCKING PIN FOR THE TRANSFER CASE NOT DISENGAGING AFTER YOU PUT THE SELECTOR SWITCH BACK INTO 2WD. I'VE EVEN TRIED BACKING IN REVERSE TO SEE IF THIS WOULD DISLODGE IT WITH NO SUCESS. IT'S AT THE TRANNY SHOP NOW. ANYONE KNOW OF ANY RECALLS.
