Message: No, kidding I work over at the Naval Station in Pascagoula Mississippi, so the New Orleans area is just over an hour drive. Ask your dealer if he would do the same for me?

Message: Given that mine is a well-maintained, loved 93, I doubt I'll get any sympathy from the manufacturer on my flakin' issue. I'll take care of it on my own.... (sigh). Can anyone tell me if this is a paint or primer issue.... both? Just wanna know if it needs to be taken down to the metal.

Message: New guy here - I have this very same issue with a black '98 Dakota (only 56100 km, so mileage isn't an issue). I'm in Canada (across from Detroit, MI), and my Dad worked there for 38 years, so we went to the guy he knows who had the paint/bodywork contract with Chrysler in this area for years. As soon as he saw my truck he stated that it was a well known PPG primer issue. He said that Chrysler most likely wouldn't cover it, but that PPG *should* guarantee it. Afterwards we went to a DCX dealer, they took pictures to send off to whomever, and sure enough I got a message on the answering machine stating they wouldn't do anything about it (at the local level at least). They gave me a toll free DCX customer service number to call, so that's where I'm at as of now.

Message: I have a 98 dakota and the paint is getting worse by the minute. I have also seen other dakota's in my area (bay area California) with the same problem. I am going to take the information from Christopher and see what they can do for me. Thanks for the info. christopher

Message: ive got a 97 dakota and a few years ago had the same problem w/ my paint. After some long research ive found that dodge had an adhesion problem with the 97/98. dodge covered half the cost of repainting mine. not without a fight though.
