Subject: Front end shake IP: Logged
Message: My 2003 R/T becomes hard to steer and shakes hard when driving on the interstate when going over bumps in the road. The pavement does not have to be all that bad the slightest of roughness will pull the wheel to the right and the front end seems to float. Dealer said it was out of alignment but that did not solve the problem. Any ideas?

Message: Put the front end up in the ear and check all the front end and steering components. Could be wheel bearings, ball joints, tie rod ends, etc. Just about anything loose will do that. Also, check your tire pressure. Too much can cause "floating" and wandering.

Message: At last the problem is solved. A dealer found that the lower steering column coupling was bad. After they replaced it the truck steered better then it did when I first bought it. Now for the bad news. When the truck was in the dealer for the repairs they found that it has a bad drive shaft.
The replacement coupling is more robust and will also eliminate any vibration coming from the wheels. The part was on back order so I have to believe that Dodge is replacing a lot of these parts. The drive shaft is also on back order. I hope nothing else goes wrong?
