Message: Yes madmax93, I removed the whole interior and watched the water run from the metal under the rear window. Just got it back from the body shop and they found that the sealent had pulled away fron the seam,(he thinks its caused by the cab flexing) thus causing the water to come in.
They remove the old sealent and put in new and the problem has gone away. The body shop also told me about the front leaks and I did not have that problem.

Message: Where is the water in the front coming from? My carpet is soaked and I can't find out where it's coming from. I thought it might be the a/c condensation line leaking inside but I can't find it.

Message: As far as the wet carpet is concerned, its got to be something with the a/c. It sounds like I have a bucket of water splashing around up under my dash, and on long trips my passengers complain of ice cold water dripping down on their feet. I also get a little drip on the driver's side from time to time. The rear windo leaking sucks too. I have a shell on the back, so I just pulled it off and filled the cracks with clear silicone. Works great, but probably not a good looking option w/o the shell.

Message: We've had some pretty good rains this past week. My son who drives my '98 Dodge Dakota took the entire interior out of the cab. There was standing water on the driver's side foot-well area. We cannot locate the source of the leak. We have not had this problem until now, I'm certain, as I am sure the truck interior would have started to stink and smell musty at some point. We've checked pretty closely, but cannot find any evidence of water coming in from any particular point. Anyone have any ideas as to the source of the leak(s)? Thanks.

Message: My 98 has the same problem. My body shop took the interior apart, removing carpet and seats, trying to find the leak. Decided that it was around the rear brake light unit on backside of the cab. Removed and replaced the gasket. However, didn't stop the leak. Says he'll next remove the light frame and try silicone around the unit.

Message: I have a 98 Dakota that had water leaking in from the rear sliding window. I first took it to the dealership and they said it was a body seam. After the repair, I replaced all the carpet. However, a week later more water under the carpet. I then took off the interior plastic cover that is below the sliding window and poured water on the outside cab. That's when I saw water comming from the bottom of the sliding window. You cannot see the water leak if the interior plastic cover is in place. I took it back to the dealer and they replaced the window assembly and gave me a credit for the previous work. All's dry for now.

Message: Is this something that the dealership should repair? I have a 2001 with the same problem. My passenger side floor gets soaked in the summer. I think it many be the seal on the window.
Any suggestions?

Message: Follow-up on my comment of 9/10/2003. My vehicle is a 2002 Dodge Dakota club cab 4x4. I found the source of water soaking the passenger footwell was the poor seal around the Air conditioner supply lines where they penetrate the firewall (right behind A/C dryer assembly). Difficult to get to but liberal amounts of silicon smeared around the lines solved the problem. However, silicon shinks after exposuer to engine heat and now I need to re-apply. I found the leak area by using a garden hose to spray firewll and watching where water entered cab interior. I'm sure warranty would cover this but I and the dodge are working out of the country and no dodge dealers with-in a 1000 miles from here.

Message: Don't know if anyone else has had this problem but I also have water entering the cab. It's been repaired before as well as the electrical box at the drivers feet the water shorted out. The other day I found out that I have the same problem. My headlights wouldn't turn on as well as every other light on the truck. The windshield wipers didn't budge neither did the power windows. I checked the carpet to see if it's damp, and to my surprise it's wet again. They replaced the back glass the first time and it's happening again.

Message: So this will explain the used '98 Dakota I just purchased. We were wondering about the rear window, looks like it was either replaced or was just resealed. The carpetting was also replaced by bedliner material (don't know what it's called inside the cab, first time I've seen this done).
Had water coming into my previous '87 Dakota on the passenger side, but after a couple years owning the vehicle the water went away by itself & everything was fine.
Ah well, the '98 Dakota was for a really good price, so I'll live with the surprises. I just wish it came equipped with a cup holder... boy that would have been sweet.

Message: We have a 2002 Dakota that has just started, like in the last month or so leaking bad. The front passenger floor all the way to the back floor board in the cab...soaked! Has anyone heard of a recall for this problem? I didn't see it in the postings. Any ideas on how we get Dodge to recall?
