Message: O.K.
Hopefully up here in Canada our education system provides us with the means to form words into sentences!
That said, I'm looking to by a used Dakota... preferably 98 or newer (V6, manual without a lot of toys).
Can anyone let me know what to look/lookout for with these things?
I see a lot of them used... This has me worried.
Peace.

Message: Okay...about the weak springs part. Heavy load= sagged end. You'll have to upgrade. I did, and my sag is at a minimal. Common thing with many trucks, not just Dakotas. Just don't haul alot with a sagged end due to a heavy load. You'll create more problems than your wallet can deal with.
Leo....Not too many used Dakotas around here for sale. I did read Consumers Reports Used Vehicle Guide and the 98 -00 Dakota made the "Most Unreliable Used Car List." But that don't take in a bunch of factors, like owner care. BIG ONE! I know a mechanic here and he says he has to repair many dakota/durango engines. I own a 98 Dakota 5.2 V8 Sport with just over 50,000 miles. No problem yet except for a current tranny leak.

Message: MRP...you have to have all that repaired because you are hauling heavy loads which cause your end to sag...which do damage after awhile. Common sense. You upgrade your speakers if you want more audio power right? You do the same when it comes to towing and hauling. Springs, shocks...upgrade.
