 Subject: CALIPERS FROZEN?

I just replaced my front rotors and pads. Now I am getting a grinding/rubbing noise from the front end (traced to the right front where I can smell burning brakes). I am certainly not a pro but everything seems to be installed properly which leads me to believe the caliper may be freezing up. What are the symptoms of a frozen caliper? Could this be anything else that I may be possibly overlooking? Thanks for any help.

the first and usually normal indication of a frozen rotor is pulling to the oposite side that is frozen. if it pulls right it is because the right side is working right and tha left is "frozen" in place and not working, oppposite is true for the other side. the grinding noise is usually an indicater of worn out pads or rotor, or just plain metal to metal contact where thernot supposed to be any.

Be sure the slide pins are clean and installed straigt- I had one pin out of alignmnet on my jeep and it crated the same "frozen" problem. The caliper cannot backoff after brakes are released. Also check the calipers to be sure there are no tears in the boot over the piston- dirt gets in there and the piston can't backoff either.
