Message: So far, I've gotten 39,000 mi from the stock Wranglers that came on my 2001 QC 4x4 Sport, and the wear bars aren't even noticable yet. Only rotated once at 8K miles. Is this typical wear, or is it thanks to the balanced weight distribution of the Quad Cabs?

Message: Sounds like a "Fish Story" to me. Someone must have been rotating your tires for you and you didn't notice it. There is no way you could go 31K miles without rotating and not have completely chopped tires. I have 28K miles on mine and they have been rotated every 6K miles, and the tread is almost gone. I doubt serioulsy that your claim is true unless you own the factory's "Golden Set" or live in Toon Town.

Message: Just dumped my 31X10.5R15 Goodyear RT/S's with 145000KM on them, yes 90000miles! I have a 99 4X4 dakota which has the tire package and I rotated in the 5th tire every 8000-12000Kms on rotations. 85% of my driving is done on the highway and I try my best not to burn them off. When I dumped them I had 6/32nds on the two back tires, 4/32nds on the fronts with the sides rounded, and the spare had about 7/32nds. Originaly the tires started off with 17/32nds. I am now off to bigger and better pastures as far as my new tires go. I now have BFG A/T's 32X11.5R15 and they are sweeeeeet! With 19/32nds of tread all I have to worry about now is the rock chips on the rocker pannel. There's only a bit of rubbing on the frame but it is not much more then the factory RT/S's.

Message: TronicsBrain: Still think its a "fish story"? What model of truck are you running. I agree the mileage is higher than typical, so I have to think its a combination of mostly highway miles and the weight ratio (front to back) of the Quad Cabs. Or maybe you're just "hot footin" it the sushi bar!

Message: My 02 QC has close to 39,000 miles on it. I've gotten the tires rotated about once every 10K miles, and they're fine. I've even had people compliment me on the even wear. I figured I'd need new tires by now, but I don't. Same with my brakes, front and rear are both not even close to being used up. I probably do a 50/50 split of highway and rural driving. I keep waiting to replace my brakes and tires with something better, but the damned things just won't wear out!

Message: I have a 1998 Club Cab Intense Blue V6 Dakota Sport. I got 39,000 on my stock Wranglers before I replaced them, I rotated them twice, once at 12,000 and again at 25,000. I only replaced them because they were pretty thin for a Pennsylvania winter that was approaching. My brakes were normal wear on the front, but after one change I had to replce the calipers as the piston cracked. A $100 job if you do it yourself. Bit of a pain after only one change. My rears are still original and I have 44,800 on it today. I love this truck, but the thin black paint on the bumpers is terrible. I think I might get the front bumper powder coated or Line Xed.

Message: had wranglers on my 87 Comanche pickup I bought new and only got 25000 miles out of them before they were almost bald. I swore I would never buy wranglers again. Shocker, my new Dak came stock with the wrangler rt/s and I was really skeptical. Gotta say, goodyear has definetly turned them around, 65000 miles on them right now and I won't be surprised if I get at least a total of 80000 miles on them b/4 I have to replace. They have been rotated every 6000-7000 miles. I also don't lite 'em up off stop lights and some slippage does occur in the rain from a stop but knowing that it could happen(wierd how no weight in the back of a pickup helps that happen??!!!!) I just try to be more careful. Sorry to say but I can't knock the wranglers anymore.

Message: I assume you mean the Goodyear Wrangler RT/S tire? These were stock on my 2000 Cherokee Sport and lasted 68,000 miles (all highway) with regular rotation (every 7-8000 miles). They were OK but not outstanding, I put the BF Goodrich TA Long Trails on and will see how they do.

Message: The Wrangler RT/S tires on my 01 Club Cab 4x4 have 8/32 of tread left at 68000 miles. They were rotated at 12-15000 mile intervals without using the spare. Much of tire wear is determined by how one drives.

Message: Not rotating your tires is just asking for trouble. No I don't think it will help solve the premature wear on the ball joints, but the way some of you describe rotating your tires sounds like it makes it worse.
Personally I rotate every other oil change. Since I do it all myself, it's no problem. But it should be easy to find some place that changes oil with coupons for free tire rotation. I expected my Goodyears to crap out by now and they have 28k on them and look good. However it is all relevant to the engine. I have a v6 w/ limited slip 3.92, the only way I can spin the one tire is wet pavement or gravel. I know a guy w/ 2002 V8 that wore his rear stock tires bald after 3k. And he wonders why his tranny has problems?

Message: Got 40k until my stock goodyears turned bald. Rotated every 7000 miles. Most of my driving is in the city, so I'd imagine that all that turning had something to do with it.

Message: I got about 55000 miles out of the orginal RT/S tires on my 2001 CC 4x4. (P265/70R16)
Probably could have got another 10 or 20K but winter was coming.
Replaced them with the BFG Long Trails. Seem like a good tire so far with only 17000 miles on them.

Message: Stock Wrangler RT/S on my now traded '01 CC had 45000 miles tread depth between 10 and 12 32's across all 4 tires but really bad wet traction after I crossed the 30,000 mile mark. I'll be dumping the RT/S's on my '04 Quad Cab at 30,000 for a set of Revo's.
