 Subject: right turn signal = 4 ways

I have a 2002 Dodge Dakota sxt with 19,000 miles on it. I just had to have a ball joint, shocks, upper arms and tie rods put in the front end. Now when I stop I hear a clunking in the rear end and when I turn my right turn signal on my 4 ways come on.. Any suggestions?

The Right Turn = 4 ways is a faulty signal switch in the steering column. I had the exact opposite (left = 4 way intermittently) on my 2002 Quad 4.7L. Was quoted some high number to replace it. Sad thing is, you can wiggle it or drive around in your neighboorhood turning the turn signal each way and eventually it will correct itself (for a while).
I had the problem for about two months straight. Strange thing is it seemed to work itself out and I haven't seen it for about 6 months now. Just to lazy or cheap to buy the new switch here...

Just had the same thing happen again on my 2001 QC 4X4 4.7. Turn left and the four ways come on. This also happened about 6 months ago. I checked the tail light bulbs and found one with two filaments in it. The bulb looked darker than the rest and appeared to have cooked one of the filaments. My neighbour (mechanic) said that sometimes the filament snaps and then rejoins itself as it heats up, but the joint is very weak and may/will separate and rejoin again causing a short in the system. Changed the bulb 6 months ago and it has been absent until today. I'll check the rest of the bulbs tonight. Also called the dealer and they said it could be the multi-function switch ($100.00 Can) but they suggested to check all the bulbs. Then if it does it again to bring it in while its freaking out so they can diagnose it better.

Just had the same thing on my 02. Dodge parts department had the part for $55US.
