how current? 2003 only? do they go back to 97 when genIII was started? or are they only good for a few years. To some people current means "right now" and to others in may mean "6 years" But by all means thank you for taking the time to post this helpful info. I for one appreaciate it.

I've got a '00 Dakota Sport CC, and I work at Chrysler here in Auburn Hills and just happen to have a few engineer smoking buddies, so....

I had a problem with my cruise control, and they said to do the following:

Turn ignition on
Turn ignition off
Turn ignition on
Turn ignition off
Turn ignition on

If there are any codes in the computer, they will flash in sequence on your digital odometer read-out.

I know this works, because I got P1596 & P1597, which, according to the charts in this post are Speed control switch always high/low. By the way, the dealer looked up the code for me (I was kinda surprised at this) and he proudly reported that they meant: MUX S/C HIGH/LOW - he did not know what MUX S/C meant [engineer speak for multplexer speed control switch - everything in your steering wheel/column comes through one set of cables and is switched to the appropriate component etc. blah, blah, blah]

Anyway, one warranty visit and a free roll of electrical tape later (wow, how assured I felt seeing the free roll of electrical tape in my console) all was better.

I think that since the Dakota redesign ('97) they are all on the same engine controller, so these codes should be realtively up to date.

I have a 97 Dakota Sport, the fuel gauge is reading wrong. It says I have less gas then I actually do. Is that a sensor problem or a mechanical problem, and can i find that out by reading the codes. Where is my level sensor located in the tank or what?

12 Direct battery input to PCM was disconnected within the last 50 key-on cycles.

Does that simply meant the battery was disconnected? or does that mean there is a short somewhere?

Just to let you all know that my code 1757 govener pressure too high or wrong is being caused by my govener pressure sensor in my transmission causing no first gear the fix is to replace the solenoids in the transmission on the drivers side of the valve body not that expensive if you can do it your self parts are about $180 dollars and are after market
