Ok, dakota 4.7 4x4 with ztube and auto. At startup when cold it is fine....drive around and get warmed up to normal temps and a screech starts. Not at idle, and not when getting on it? Only like 1000-2000rpm(approx). Its not the belt, I tried lubing it up....not the intake, i removed it and it was still there??? Sounds like a screech/whine/fast ringing type of sound. Any ideas would be great. thanks chris

my 99 3.9 sometimes squeaks when it is warm but it does it when i give it a little gas, like just tapping on it to hear the exhaust. but other than that it does not make any noises. i checked everything that you did except for removing the intake, if it keeps doin it you may want to have it checked out.

i have the same problem with my 2002 4.7l. i ve been told its the alternator, and that the noise is normal...im not sure about that though, but beleive what you want

Ok, well the screech sounds more like a jingle almost. I took to the dealer and today they ordered a new alternator for it, and a fan hub. It sounds like its coming from the alternator/belt area. It only does it from like 1k-2k rpms when completely warmed up. Ill post when they get the parts in, and if it corrects the problem.

IF YOU CAN GRAB A FAN BLADE AND THE FAN WOBBLES BACK AND FORTH, ITS THE FAN BEARING.
THE FAN HAS A VISCOUS HUB (FILLED WITH SILICONE)
THE SILICONE LEAKS OUT AND TOASTS THE BEARING.
IF THE ALTINATOR IS WORKING AND YOU ARE PAYING FOR THE REPAIR YOU ARE GETTING HOSED!

They have replaced the alternator and also the fan hub. This jingle is still there. Any ideas still? I need to bring it back a 3rd or 4th time it seems like. chris

what abouth the clutch on the A/C?or power steering level...throw some zmax or duralube in it too..cant hurt especially if its in the bearings in the cams or cranks

i just purchased my brand new 2003 dak sport 4.7 two weeks and it makes the same noise only when warm. i dont think it has anything to do with a belt or alternator. i think it might even be normal.
