Message: Has anyone else had problems with the drivers wiper when fully up hitting the hood and rubbing the paint off. I have a 02 quad cab and my friend has a 02 quad 4x4 bought from different dealers that have this problem. His is down to the metal. The dealer says they will have to dissemble whole wiper system to diagnose.I only have 4000 miles.

Message: Yes, I had the same problem, and fixed it myself. Just take the wiper arm off, and put it back on so that it's rotated a little more toward the "down" position. Worked fine, plus looks better when it's off, being more level.

Message: yeah i did that but i had to move mine so far down that the wiper would not push snow off the side so i took the arm off and bent it so that it now goes down and still pushes the snow rain off the windsheild.i was just wondering if there were more out there like mine and my friends.

Message: I have an 02 quad and I have the same problem as you. Guess ill have to try an bend it. At first I thought that the hood got put on a little crooked since it was only on the drivers side.

Message: The trick is to bend the thin part of the wiper arm so that it pushes rain and snow off the side.I wrapped some rags around it and stuck it in my vise. The part that hits is still close to but not hitting the hood anymore. The one dealer i took it to grabbed a breaker bar and started cranking on it thinking it was lose i thought he was going to snap it off. A$$hole

Message: Have the same problem with mine and saw about 10 others so far with the same problem. all were 02's
If you look at the bottom of the windshield you will see a small white line in the glass. the wiper is supposed to sit on top of the line. I couldn't take the wiper arm off. I guess I need some kind of puller. I moved the hood a little but then you have to adjust the hood latch and the grille. I don't trust the dealer. They pretend they don't about the problem.

Message: This seems to be a common problem on Dakotas and Durango’s. To fix you do not need to bend the wiper arm or relocate the position. Remove the wiper lift up the plastic cowling and you will see where the wiper assembly bolts to the firewall thru a 1” rubber bushing. Remove the rubber bushing take out the metal insert and cutoff about 1/8” to 3/16” from the bottom then cut the same amount from the metal insert and reinstall. This will pull the whole assembly down and away from the hood.
