Subject: Vibration Shimmy 1999 4x4 Auto Trans IP: Logged
Message: My 1999 Dak with 39,000mi. has a slight shimmy at 35-40 mph then goes away above that speed. Its coming from front end. If I pop it in neutral (Auto trans) it still vibrates, also in 4x4H.
It feels like a bouncy type vibe, like an out of round tire, but they have been rotated and rebalanced no luck. I replaced the upper ball joints with Moogs but lowers are original. Ties rods feel tight, no slop in steering. Any ideas?

Message: At that speed it is more than likely the wheel bearings, the tires being out of balance would be felt a higher speeds 55-70mph wheel bearings act up around 30-45mph

Message: if you have bottomed out recently check for any small dents in your drive shaft. had a 1" long 1/4" deep dent in mine and it shook at 53mph.
