Subject: Seat belt IP: Logged
Message: I have noticed lately on my 93 4x4 Dakota w/318 that the driver side seat belt does not want to fully return after I have unlatched it. It usually leaves about 10-12" of slack that usually ends up getting caught in the door. I looked in Chiltons and they list nothing about the seat belts.

Message: I had the same problem with my 95. The problem can be aleviated with a complete cleaning of the belt with soap and water or? The build up of crud on the belt and the slot at the top attachment point keeps the belt from smoothly retracting.

Message: Do you mean clean just the exposed belt or is there some way to expose the lower retractor to clean it?

Message: My '93 does the same. It doesnt bother me too much so I ignore it.. Just like the shock every time I exit the vehicle.
