Message: I just bought a 97' RC Dakota with 5.2,4x4 5spd. This is one torquely truck, way torqer than my 91' comanche 4L 5spd.
The dealer just replaced the ball joints on the Dakota and did an alignment. I also put on Q4-P265-75/15 Michellins, Q4-Gabriel gas shocks, turned the rotors, replaced the rear pads, replace rear brake cables.
The problem is the truck still pull slightly towards the passenger side and I always turn my steering to 11 o'clock to correct it. Also the steering seemd vagueand slightly jumpy. Overall ,the steering does not relax me nor give me confidence.
Anyone out there can help? Thanks in advanced.

Message: I have a similar problem on my 99 2WD on long highway drives. I don't have to go to eleven, but i feel the tug on my hands after awhile.
I my case, i think it is that calafornia highways all slant to the right, since I don't notice it around town, but i don't know if that is because i usually turn before it gets a chance to drift.

Message: This may just be a crock of BS, but a salesman said the truck is designed to pull slightly to the right incase the driver fell asleep or something - the truck won't veer into traffic.

Message: The 'salesman" is wrong. Remember he is hired by the comany he works for to sell to you and keeps complaints down. take your truck to an independent garage that specializes in alignments and have it done right. Everytime a friend has that problem I refer him/her to a place I have been doing business with for over 30 years and when they get done all the problems are gone. You need to find a really good shop and stick with them. 200 to one the caster on the right side is a bit behind the caster on the left. that is why it pulls.

Message: My daughter has a 2002 Dakota we purchased from the dealer 6 mos. ago. After making a turn, the steering wheel locks and has to be jerked to straighten the wheel. Has anyone had this problem?
