Subject: Engine Runs Cold IP: Logged
Message: I've been reading the comments about not being able to get heat from your Dakota, but my problem doesn't seem to be a common one.
I've got a 1997 Dakota (V6 Magnum w/Air) and I'm not getting any heat either, but (according to the temperature gauge) the engine is running way too cold. The gauge needle used to sit close to the 210° line, now I'm doing good to get halfway between the lowest reading (130°) and midpoint (210°).
I replaced the thermostat with a NAPA 183 (192°/195°) this past week but that didn't resolve the problem. I even covered most of the front of the radiator with cardboard and she's still cold. The fan clutch is fine. Any suggestions as to why my motor won't warm up?
Thanx

Message: I have the same problem. 95 dakota 5.2 4x4. No matter how
long I drive it, the temp gauge is a tick above the cold line. No
hot air will blow because the engine isn't reaching an
appropriate temperature. New thermostat and radiator.
Normal coolant levels too. I'm pretty stumped myself

Message: If you don't want to freeze to death than flush out the heater core, very easy to do. Instructions can be found on one of the forums here. "Good Luck"
