Subject: miss-manufactured EGR unit IP: Logged
Message: '91 Dakota V6 has been stumbling when hot. After looking at books, we decided to test the EGR valve. To our surprise, it never has been working because the connection for the vacuum hose is "blind"; it is a solid steel little cylinder, instead of being a piece of tubing which would transmit the sucking of the vacuum. Thus any vacuum ever applied could never have actuated the "plunger".
Is this just a single incident? or, Did perhaps Dodge make a whole bunch of these dummy units, purposely defeating the whole EGR process?
