I am going to head to my mechanic and have the rotors check they are not warped but they are half wore through and the pads not touched. Suspect that they mis matched them. I love my 200 dakkota but this is not acceptable. I am also going to have them check the ball joint prior to my meet with the Dealer. I am sitting at 50 000 km and no real issues yet.

Has any one else have rotor scoring with good pads?

I brought my 2001 QC to the dealer telling them that my brakes shudder a little. The parts guy booked me in right away and replaced the rotors. They didn't even test drive the truck. I have 14,000km. Sounds like my dealer is aware of the rotor problems these trucks have.

Just took my 2000 to the best brake guy in the area and had the warped rotors replaced. 36k miles - only 25% pad wear. He said the stock rotors are very thin from the factory and he has seen many other Dodge's with the same issue. He owns a 99 Dak himself. I previously tried the warranty but I guess brakes are only covered up to 12k miles.

I had my 2000 Dakota in three times for the same problem. They finally replaced the rotors with Bendix brand and I have not had a problem with the brakes since.

Hello, according to a friend who is a service writer, dealers got lots of complaints about pads wearing out at 20k mi. They "cured"the problem by making the pads much "harder" than the rotor! now the pads last and last. unfortunatly they overheat the rotors and warp!! Dealer gets away by saying you drive like a psycho. I have the opportunity to get very good deals on powerstop cross drilled rotors and their 911 pads at a great deal! any intrest??? rogueoffroad@charter.net

I thought I was the only one with this kind of problem (2002 Dakota) . Although my dealer is claiming they have not heard of anything like rotors warping "unless you ride your brakes". Thanks for helping me out with some good information.
