 Subject: Transmisson sparking

I have a 2000 3.9 Dakota and when I put it in either Reverse or Drive, Even When i am driving i can hear a Sparking sound from underneath my truck my friend said he could see sparks when he look under neat when i switched gears, does anyone know what this could be

I know what you mean. I heard the same thing. We use to own a 2000 dakota, but now it's wrecked. My hubby said I was just seeing and hearing thing. Now I can't show him but at least I know I am not the only one.

Thanks Caressa,
I ended up taking it to the Dealer and they found that is what the Driveshaft Cracking everytime i put it in to R or D, They had to replace the shaft it was cracked almost all the way down, Thanks for you comments

Uh, fellas, transmissions don't 'spark" IF its throwing off sparks, then you have a major problem probably not in the transmission.
