Message: Guys please help. I've exhausted every possibility(atleast i think i have). I blew out the front driver side tire on the freeway. When i mounted the new tire the truck made a metallic ticking sound. I thought it was the brakes..nope. thought it was the suspension...nope. I even had them put on a new tire....nope. Friend of mine told me it could be the cv joint. But 2wd's don't have any. Another buddy said it could be the ABS sensor. What the heck is it??? 3.9L v6 2wd

Message: check all four tires and see if you may have a nail or something in them. I once had the same problem on my truck and found out that 3 of 4 tires had nails in them, this is after i replaced the fourth which was flat.

Message: Yeah i looked at that too but all four tires were ok...nothing on them. thanks though for the help. Do you think its something with the tire. I just don't see how anything can "click" on a tire.

Message: sorry for the delayed post EV.
I'm lost wish I could offer a better idea. Try checking the weights on the rims, see if any are loose. other than that I'd take it in and have it checked. Sorry i couldn't be of more help.

Message: No cv joint on a 2wd truck? hmm i thought that they had them, at least that what my dad said he needs to repalce next on his 89' ford. Oh well he could be wrong, as for me, i have no clue. It seems you have checked every place possible within the wheels and suspension, are you sure the clickings only within there? Is it continuous, and cylclical (i dunno if thats a word, but does it click in cycles)??? It could be a belt or something. Good luck, hope the new wheels fix the problem!

Message: There is something emmissions related on my truck near the battery in the area of the front drivers fender well that makes a ticking noise. I thought I had a valve lash adjuster going bad, at first. I think it was the solenoid/pump for the evaporative emmissions.
Could that be it? Look and listen under the hood there.
Hope that is what it is...

Message: oh well, this truck has over 120,000 on it and the wheel bearing was bad on the passenger side.....but it was hard to put in, it is not just bearings, he had to order the whole big thingie A-frame deal from NAPA. Maybe they screwed him some how.

Message: I have a 1996 Dodge Caravan I just purchased a little over a month ago. The tires were bad, so my husband and I went to the junk yard and bought 4 tires that look to be in great shape. We took them to a tire shop and had them mounted and balanced a few weeks ago. Since then, there's been a loud ticking sound coming from the front passenger side. We've changed the breaks and rotors, checked tires, nothing in them. It never made the noise until we had the other tires put on. Any ideas? It's a ticking sound, happens at low or high speeds. Only happens while driving. No ticking sound while idling. Thanks!
