I have a 1999 dakota cc 2wd and i have 31inch tires on it and when i break it shakes like i'm in an earthquake. I checked the front breaks, got an alignment on tires and still nothing has fixed, now that i read this i'm going to go ahead and get aftermarket rotors and never buy a dodge again. Anyone know anything about a POPING noise that occurs near the front of the truck while reversing? Doesnt happen all the time, and only when i am going in reverse.

Never mind the warping rear brake drums-I had the scare of my life last Monday when my family and I were headed for the NAIAS at Cobo Hall. The rear end was shimmying no matter what speed, and were it not for two guys who made us pull over we would not have discovered that four of the six lug nuts and their respective mounts had BROKEN OFF the left rear wheel. We were two bolts away from disaster at 50 mph. We had the brakes done and new tires all around just seven months before, and the tell-tale brake shimmy showed back up about three months ago. The car is a grocery-getter, and has 78,000+ miles on it. Guess I'll be joining you all at the NHTSA site...

I have a 2005 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab. I bought it from Shelor Motor Mile in Christiansburg. I bought it brand new off the lot with 30 miles on it. I have taken it back FIVE TIMES for the same problem, Warped roaters and Drums. Shelor replaced the brakes Front rotars and rear drums the second time I took it back. They told me that they had came out with a new drum that was basically made of a thicker peice of steel so that a way the drums wouldn't heat up as fast so they would last longer and wouldn't warp. The third time they turned the roaters and drums. The forth time they told me that the vibration that I was feeling was the drums and they would NOT replace them because I had went 6,000 miles past the 12,000 mile warranty and that they would not pay to raplace the parts, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS THE SAME CONSISTANT PROBLEM, THEY TOLD ME THAT I WOULD BE BETTER OFF FIXIN IT UP AND TRADING IT, AND THEY DO NOT DO NOT OFFER AFTER MARKET PARTS FOR MY TRUCK, I HAVE TO ORDER THEM STRAIGHT FROM THE MANUFACTURER, wanted to charge me 100 dollars an axle just to turn them, NOT replace them just to turn them. I said no and went and got my truck back. The problem is worse than ever. I didn't pay 22,000 for a truck that I would have to spend 600 EVERY SIX MONTHS for some new rotars and drums, because that is how much it costs to fix my problem. I HAVE UNTIL MAY 14TH THAT IT STILL FALLS UNDER THE LEMON LAW. THE LAWYER THAT I SPOKE WITH TOLD ME THAT I NEED TO TAKE MY TRUCK TO A MECHANIC AND GET THE MECHANIC TO TELL ME WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, AND IS THEIR A PERMANENT WAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM OR WILL I HAVE TO GET NEW DRUMS,ROATERS AND BRAKES EVERY SIX MONTHS?????????????????????????????????????????????????? IF ANYONE OUT THERE CAN HELP ME PLEASE EMAIL ME AT SGIBSON08@HOTMAIL.COM I ONLY HAVE ABOUT 2 WEEKS LEFT BUT THAT IS MY BRAKE TROUBLE
