found out the problem with the surging and idle issue's. The Throttle Position Sensor. Bought it from the tranny shop for $65 and replaced it and things are back to normal.

I have a 2000 Dakota with the 4.7L and a manual transmission. I have spent the last month trying to solve this rough idle issue. My truck has had a rough idle while cold for the last month. Not every time it's cold, about 75% of the time. Once it warms up, things are ok. I have replace the camshaft position sensor and the throttle position sensor. I have measured the resistance of both the input air temp sensor and coolant temp sensor. They both seem ok. I am about to pull my hair out. Next is the battery temp sensor and some tests on the idle air control valve. No OBD codes. Dodge should address this issue.

Got a 2000 4.7 auto with 147000 miles and this problem just started. A friend of mine who is a mechanic cleaned out throttle assembly and checked for codes but no codes came up. Cleaning helped alot but still have trouble when cold. Put new plugs in and fuel additive to help clean out injectors etc. It helped for awhile, considering fuel filter change. Does anybody know where they are?
