Well I have the same problem with my 1999 dodge Dakota. The only problem I am having is that now that my Cat is gone dodge doesnt want to replace it. They claim that I have fail the emissions test before they replace it, But I am not failing. I am also getting the rattle sound and loss of power symtoms. $800 down the drain if i dont fail the stupid test.

I guess dodge is only nice in the USA. They dont make it easy in Canada.

I am getting a stutter when i press the accelerator, is that a symptom of the cat being clogged up?

Also when i take my foot off the accelerator i get a sharp deceleration.

Speach impediments are usually the sign of a deep underlying neurological or psychological problem.

Do you suffer from bed wetting or premature ejaculation or just the stutter?

I bought a 1999 dodge dakota a few months ago. Within a few weeks a rattle stated in the Catalytic Converter. Now its extream. I have a loss of power, especially going up any hills. My check Engine light has come on, (maybe due to the oxgeon sensor). But from what your peoples are saying is that i can have it replaced free of charge! Thats great, i'll have to contact Dodge. I'm no Mechanic but i have searched prices of the catalytic convertyer and its only about 143.00. No welding, all snap in with U clamps. That will be my option if this Free of charge replacement doesn't go through.
Thanks for the info, and i'll keep you informed.

a u clamp is a poor substitute for welding a cat in place you can't tell me you get a perfect seal that will last for years with a u clamp
