Subject: know how to get to stall IP: Logged
Message: i have a 99 3.9 ext cab 4x4.i only have 30 000 kms on it.if i go from park to drive to reverse before the rpms settle between shifts the computer can't keep up and stalls the engine.allso on occasion it will stall when i go to shift from drive to park without waiting a second or two after i come to a complete stop.the biggest question i have is:are our computers made from scrap parts of 1970 apple computers?my shifts are never consistant and it stalls.it seems very easy to confuse the truck to the point of it giving up and stalling.i never have a problem if i do things slow and calculated.i love my truck but i have 5 months left on my bumper to bumper warranty,so if i can get any answers to my problems it would be great now.

Message: I think you may have a sensor problem. The engine idle speed is set by a idle air motor to a throttle position needed to keep the air flowing. The TPS or MAP sensor can confuse the computer. The trans may also be "pulling" too hard and need internal check valve R&R or adjustment. A competant mechanic is needed.

Message: what was the final outcome of this repair... I have a 02 SXT and mine does the same. I noticed that when in park or neutral I can rotate the steering wheel from stop to stop and watch the rpms fluctuate then the engine will cut off like turning the ignition off. This stall or hesitataion also occurs when coming to a stop quickly. It acts like the transmission is not downshifting fast enough.???

Message: I've got the same thing with an '01 SLT 3.9L. Same RPM shift with steering and stalling when putting in and taking out of gear. Anyone have any ideas? Haven't looked at the sensors yet.
