Subject: noise after coming to a stop IP: Logged
Message: When I come to a stop, whether it is a quick stop or a slow stop, about 1 or 2 seconds after the truck completely stops it feels as though the truck gets hit lightly from behind. I have tried it in drive and neutral. First I thought it was the spare tire loose on the winch under the bed. Dodge rebuilt my transmission a year ago and it did it before and after. Not a huge bang but definitly noticable. Any thoughts?

Message: Patrick it is the gas sloshing in your gas tank. Sounds silly but I am pretty sure.

Message: I have the same problem. It is not gas slohing; it is something in the rear end or drive shaft.

Message: Its the gas in the tank! There are no baffles (walls) in the gas tank, so the gas swishes back and forth. Usually happens between 3/4 and a full tank of gas.

Message: My dad has a 00 dak sport reg cab 3.9 3.55 5sp and he had a noise and so he took it to the local dodge dealership and they found a 6inch pipe that someone at the factory had put in the frame so the had to take the box off and cut it out and that solved the noise

Message: AndyL-
I heard a similar story at least ten years ago. Seems someone at a certain factory in Detroit put a can inside the back seat of a sedan. He was kind enough to leave a note saying something to the effect of "Took you long enough to find it." Seems things never change...
