Message: How can we get a TSB on these? the heat cracking i mean. My last lights on a 2000 both cracked and the dealer would not replace them saying it was road debris or some sh!t. Now its starting to happen on my new 2000 i know the cheap b@stards will say the same thing. What can we do?
thanks

THE FIRST GUY SAID THAT HE THOUGHT IT WAS ROAD DAMAGE, BUT THE SERVICE MANAGER LOOKED AT THEM AND DECIDED TO REPLACE THEM UNDER WARRANTY. IF AL SMITH DON'T WANT TO CHANGE THEM TELL THEM TO GIVE D&J A CALL. IF THEY TRY TO TELL YOU ITS ROAD DAMAGE, TELL THEM THAT IF IT CRACKED FROM THE OUTSIDE THAT THE CRACK WOULD BE FACING INWARD AND IF THEY CRACKED FROM THE INSIDE THEN THE CRACK WOULD BE STICKING OUT. RUB YOUR HAND OVER THE LIGHTS AND IF YOU CAN FEEL THE CRACK BULGING OUT, THEN THEY CRACKED FROM THE INSIDE AND THEY SHOULD REPLACE THEM.

Message: Yeah i walked also and will never go back to that dealer. I have since gotten a whole new truck but when it happens to this one I will take it to Chris Leith Dodge in Wake Forest. My fan clutch was squeeking so itook it in i could not get it to do it for the tech (typical) they warrantied the fan clutch anyway on MY word like they should. Nothing worse they a dealer telling you they don't believe you. Well Al Smith lost my business and the business of anyone who asks me. Leith will take to order for my HEMI when the time is right

Message: I have the same issue. After reading your posts about the heat it makes perfect sense. I am gonna try and get mine under warranty but not sure how that will go. I noticed they cracked late last summer. I didn't do anything due to them still working. But after my trip yesterday I noticed one went out and when I stopped I took and look and there was condensation in them.

Message: I have a Sport + 2001 QC with about 9900 miles and also just noticed the foglight covers or lenses are cracked. the driver side worse than the pax side.
I take it there is no TSB/Recall on this issue?
And that I will be at the mercy of my service department/mgr for getting them replaced under warranty?
Indeed looks like heat related issues to me.

Hate to show up at my dealer for a fight on getting my fog light covers replaced!
So, no TSB yet?
Off topic, those who removed the front rubber flap, have you put them back in for winter driving?
I haven't yet, after 2 snow storms in NY that dumped over 12 inches in my backyard.
I did punch a bunch of holes in that flap for what I would imagine would be increased airflow when installed...thoughts?

Message: Geoff...fog lights are not meant to be used all the time,they will get to hot.The light is very small to handle that much heat.The leans should be made of glass.I use mine in the rain,fog and if it is snowing.The only way to use them all the time is to replace them with some high dollar ones. {Only my opinion}

Message: Dam right SpomgeBob! I live in the northwest we get alot of fog and rain up hear. But it is rediculous when you see these guys driving around with there fog lights on in the middle of the day! Before I could afford a vehicle actually made in this decade I used to think that the vehicles factory equiped with these lights just came on when you turned on the head lights. BECAUSE YOU ALL HAVE THEM ON ALL THE DAM TIME GET A CLUE! Other than that big hug!

Message: Hell folks, my fog lights only come on in bad weather, aka: rain, fog, sleet, or snow.
I have no desire to show off and say: "hey, look at me, I got fog lights running in the bright sunlight!"
Regardless, afer only a little over one year of use in such said inclement weather, my damn lenses are cracked...a DC screwup in quality control if you ask me! And no: I don't buy bug strikes or off-roading debris causing this!!!
So, once again, guess I have to go fight my service department manager on getting these things repaired under warranty! Damn cheap DC corp trying to nickle and dime us!
On the other hand, saw a new Infiniti G35 driving past me with one fog light burnt out, guess us 'low life' Dodge Drivers aren't the only ones to suffer with piss poor quality parts.

Message: If you live anywhere near deer country you can beleive this. A few months a deer was trying to cross the highway in front of me. It was a 70 mph zone and I didn't see the deer until it was too late. The deer tryed to sprint out of trouble, but on pavement that makes them fall to their knees as if they are on ice. Considering I drive a 4x4 Dakota . . . THUMP, THUD, ETC . . . I ran him over.
Here is the Fog Lights part of my story. The only damage my truck seemed to sustain, besides the front plate falling off, is one smashed up fog light.
Any suggestions finding a replacement assembly besides new from the dealership? What is this I read above about PIAA making something that fits?
Thnaks

Message: I have a 02 Dakota 4X4 sport with the 4.7 and multi speed auto. All ok so far. It did not have fog lamps installed from the factory. I bought a set from Wal-Mart and mounted them from the bumpers and didn't have to drill any holes. My question is, where can I get the left and right braket (bolts to frame) that would be there if I had factory fog lamps? Dealer says I must buy the complete light kit. They look easy enough to make my own but maybe someone knows ehere I can buy them?

Message: If you're looking for some replacements, up here in montreal there's a place that has them. they come with the bracket but no bulb. They list them for 97 to 99 but they fit 2000 model(bought one last week and there's no difference). The price is alright too, $22.00/each canadian (cheap with the exchange rate). I don't know if they ship to U.S. but check it out. Here's their e-mail : http://www.atpacauto.com/

Message: Ritchie try a junkyard I'm sure there's a few dakota's in there by now with these brackets possibly intact. Should be cheaper than buying new but these junkyards are pretty shrewd sometimes and try and charge like new prices. Sounds like you've already priced them out though.

Message: purple rick, http://www.piaa.com/displayLamp.php3?inc=510.html i first bougtht these lights, they fit perfect but the guy wanted an extra 100 dollars to install cause u need to take the bumper off to install em. so i bought these: http://www.piaa.com/displayLamp.php3?inc=1000x.html . they are bright, real nice! it will cost u a pretty penny though. and i had the installer wire em up to the existing wires on my foglights so i wouldn't have extra switches lying around.

Message: Man, PIAA lights are the best, by far IMHO. I have had them on all my vehicles over the years - you pay a little (ok, a lot) more for them but they are worth it. The quality is excellent, and they will put the factory and most other aftermarket lamps to shame.
