Subject: Front end clunking solved. IP: Logged
Message: Dealer replaced under warranty the upper control arm on the driver side. This of course replaced the upper balljoint that had a torn rubber seal. THe problem was the clunking when going slow over bumps.

Message: THe dealer would not perform an alignment under the 36000 mile warranty after replacing the control arm with the new balljoint. I refused to pay for the alignment and the dealer said they would at least check the toe-in. THe paperwork said "set to specs." Took it to the local goodyear dealer and all settings were out for the alignment. Called Chrysler Corp (DC) and they said the dealer should have at least checked the caster and camber so DC will reimburse me for the alignment when I send in my receipts.

Message: I am a certified five star tech working at a Dodge
dealer in Canada, trust me,Dakota/Durango front ends are truly JUNK.We have replaced faulty ball
joints/control arms on these things by the truckload. And before you say I am replacing them for the money,I should tell you that Chrysler
warranty pays roughly 1/2 what ageneral repair shop pays,so a fortune is being made by no one.
Food for thought.
