Message: Got a 2000 Dakota Sport that just turned 140,000. The whole ride has been almost without problem. Changed the fan relay, Turned front rotors at about 60,000 (still has ORIGINAL pads at 140000 miles, only half worn!!). Had to change clutch plate due to a broken center hub spring. Just now changed the Crank position sensor. Started using Mobil 1 products in engine, trans and rear at 75000, change oil & filter every 7000. No oil use or leaks in anything. Great truck

Message: 140,000 on a half of a set of brake pads???
I like my truck too, but I call BS on that one.
I bought my 2000 Dak-4x4/4.7 at 60,000. now have 100K miles no big troubles yet. I drive the hell out of it and off road it all the time. My only complaint from day #1 is the gas mileage. But I never bought it for gas mileage anyway, or I would have bought a neon. OH WAIT, I got one of them too, A 2001 R/T. gets 40/mpg...

Message: Ain't no Bulls**t Dally, drive truck every day to work, usually around 100 miles one way (work construction). As I stated, turned rotors at abt. 60000 and put ORIGIONAL pads back on it. Last I checked they were still quite good. To make it MORE unbeliveable, quite often it is carrying 1000 lbs of welder & equipment!! Air shocks with 120 lbs pressure make it look like nothing is on it!! Gas milage runs around 20 to 21. This is a two wheel drive truck.

Message: I am sure the pads could last that long. I am about to replace my rotors and pads at 48K. I am doing both for better stopping. My rotors are warped but the pads have tons of life left.

Message: My 2000 3.9 4x4 started falling apart at 742 miles. All six pistons were replaced due to "piston slap". Intermittent wipers do whatever they wan't, 4 recalls, heater core leaks, headlights go out when you change to brights, internal part of gas cap rusted to pieces causing the check engine light to come on. I resist taking it off road due to ball joint problems. Whats next? My truck now has 57,000 miles.

Message: Ray,
Gas cap is cracked within, they need to replace the gas cap. Been through it already, cap looked great, clicked when put back on and twisted but was still cracked enough to cause Check Engine Light to lite up.
98K on mine:
Turned front rotors 3 times before dealer finally changed them at 12k.
Replaced worn and warped rotors myself at approx 71k
Did 180* therm at 71k
Did Autolite plugs at 71k
Replaced Evaporator Core myself around that time also - I'll never try that again!
Speed Sensor around 90k
Fan Clutch & A/C Compressor at 98k
I am for the most part happy with my Dakota, especially since I drive the hell out of it.

Message: I bought a used 2000 Dodge Dakota Sport. After making a few starts and stops it would jump out of first gear . It was at a local Dodge dealership for 2 weeks and they finally said they thought they had the problem fixed . So far it is shifting fine . But if I hadn't been so pesistent they would have never tore it down . They told me they drove it 30 miles and it wouldn't jump out of gear for them. I finally told them they could keep it till it was fixed and came back the next day and they had the tranny dropped and was advised by Chrysler to replace the tsb which means absolutely zip to me .
I have been told that since I had only 58000 miles on it that the work should be covered. But I don't know who to check with to see if it is or they got paid twice.
Poor Mo. Gal looking for some advice,

Message: I bought my 2000 Dak w/ 39,000 miles.
So far I have have shifting problems,
replaced the front brakes and rotors, the left front ball joint busted, causing the axle to crack, (my warranty only covered parts of this), and now this week they are saying the transfer case just majically busted and is completely empty and that it is my fault for not servicing it. I am sending reciepts of service but they are now saying that by service they mean (30,60, 80 mile service) whatever that means. When I have a full check oil change does this naturally cover it or not???
Help! I'm running out of money.

Message: '00 4.7L 2wd 5spd. Bought it new in Feb.'00. It now has 52K on it. New tire rod ends and one front hub assembly. Could be worse I guess. My ball joints are still okay though i'm probably going to have them replaced for sh!ts and giggles. I replaced the front rotors twice now but its partly my fault. I mess with stuff to much. Now i'm running the SSBC front kit and its awesome. I got about 45K out of the rear shoes. I replaced them with some much better shoes than stock.
