Message: helpful hint - if you're replaceing the tranny speed sensor, park it with the rear uphill or the rear wheels raised - so your tranny fluid don't come out
check engine lite = tranny speed sensor
abs + brake lite = diff abs sensor
hope this helps

if speedo doesn't pick up til 30 MPH and ABS + brake lite on means diff ABS sensor
Pardon my ignorance but what is a rear diff pressure sensor??. Do you mean diff ABS sensor? or are you talking about the rear wheel sensors in a true 4 wheel ABS system
By the way - diff ABS sensor is $ 28.25 wholesale at the dealer

Message: that is your ABS sensor - it sits on top of your differitial and senses speed and rapid deceleration by sensing rotation of the diff gear which is rotation of the rear wheels. It's standard on all daks and keeps the rear brakes from locking up. If you had true four wheel ABS you would have a sensor at each wheel to keep each wheel from locking.
It's got nothing to do with differential pressure, go ask your mechanic or somebody that works on cars, obviously you don't.

Message: I had the same problem--ABS light, Brake light plus the
check engine light and no speedometer at all. 99
Dakota 4WD. I first thought it was a fuse. I changed
the 10 amp ABS fuse and it seemed to fix it. Then I got
in my truck and started it the next day and there were all
those pretty lights again. I just finished replacing the
speed sensor and it seems to have solved all problems.
This site was a great help. $33 for the part at the
dealership and about 30 minutes overall for effort.
Thanks for the information. Sam

Message: Lights came on and buzz started from engine compartment in my 2004. Even key out of ignition would not stop the buzz. Turns out the anti-lock brake pump got into a continuous pumping mode. Dealer is changing the pump. Took 5 days to get the part. Dealer reports that Caravans (sp?) had this problem and Dodge furnished a lifetime warranty on the parts.

Message: Same problem with 99 Dakota, I have located the speed sensor (I think) on the top front of the differental.
Wiring connection installs at a right angle, I was able to remove this, Not quite sure how to remove the sensor. Any help for this old man would be appreciated
Thank You
Jeff
Misc Info
What I think is the speed sensor, has a sheet metal bracket over the top of it. Brake lines and brake cables are behind it. Is this correct

Message: Having done this last month, I can tell you that
my problem was fixed by replacing the following
(in order of occurance):
1. Speed sensor in tranny ~$44 mounted on the
rear tail of the tranny.
2. Speed (ABS) sensor in the rear axle ~$33.
3. Brake switch - mounted on the brake pedal
itself - something like $80.
I have a 99 CC 5.2L RW ABS. YMMV.
