has anyone heard of any problem with this 5.9 in the quad cab dakota? I'm going to ask the dealership to check the front axle pinion nose bracket bolts...I love the truck honestly...it flat out hauls balls!

Hey, I have the same problem. I feel it in the steering wheel. I had the same problem on my 99 R/T. I don't know what it is, but does not seem major.
A question I do have for you guys is do you have a torque converter "chatter" problem when it locks up in 4th gear at 40-55 mph with a slight throttle application? The torque converter should unlock and stay in fourth but mine chatters, then with heavy throttle downshifts to 3rd. I have had the 99 R/T, 2 94 318 autos and now the 2000. The 2000 does not shift like the others at all!!! On the highway, it takes half throttle to get the thing downshift to third when it should unlock in fourth and go. My dealer has told me twice of a reprogram of the controller coming in April, and another dealer way out of town has called a torque converter problem. Help!!

my 99 CC FR R/T pops in the front end, and its the upper ball joints...I hear it alot. From others. Get it fixed before it gets worse.

the only reason I mentioned this is becasue I read the problems somewhere on here...I can't tell any problems yet. I've got about 10K miles on it.

I have a 2001 4x4 Quad Cab 5.9 and at about 8000 miles it developed a loud whining noise in the drive train. The first dealer said it was normal. I decided to try another dealer and they ended up replacing the front dif. By the way my Dakota has AWD. The noise is gone and my gas mileage has improved by a couple of miles per gallon. I guess it pays to get a second opinion.
