I have an 02 Dakota 4x4 3.9. It has developed what sounds like a vacume leak comming from the center of the dash. I only hear it above 20 mph. It gets louder with higher speed. When I put it in 4wd it gets even louder. Any one have a clue what it might be? I'm a rookie with 4WD. Does dodge use a vacume assit to engage the 4WD?

I am not sure about the 2002 dakota's but I do know the 92 does, the vacuume goes to the transfer case, and from there up to a vacuume activated arm that engages the front end...
