Same story, warped at 12,000, dealer turned with new pads, warped at 18,000, went to dealer with a stack of internet info on problem dealer claimed "no idea don't see this often" but another Dakota owner in the service area stated his vehicle was there for the same problem at 15,000 miles. Dealer reluctantly replaced rotors and pads since it was a "pre-existing problem". Warped again at 27,000. I said screw the OEM and went to Raybestos for a set of slotted and cross drilled P#ST76645 (L) & (R) with ceramic pads. These warped at 40,000 so the Raybestos regional rep came to my house and helped me install new ones (they replaced). This guy mounted the rotor to the hub with spacers then torqued and measured the run out. He then indexed the rotor until we got less than .002 run out at rotor O.D. and replaced pads with full metallic. I'm now at 61,000 with no signs of warp. Rep said minimizing the run out keeps the pads from scratching against the rotor. This scratching changes the local hardness of the rotor material at the surface. This problem along with the ceramic material not being aggressive enough at normal highway speeds causes a glazing to form and that is what the pulsation is from. A metallurgist I'm not but so far problem solved and kudos to Raybestos for standing behind their products.

Just to add to one of the bigger threads. I have a 2001 QC 4X4. Rotors warped at 12,000km. Dealer replaced without even taking a test drive. I now have 30,000km on the truck and the rotors are warped again. No warr. of course. Most of the mechanics I talk too say just turn them until you can't turn them. All of them said even the high priced (powerslots/raybestos) rotors will warp.

KYDAK I'm seriously considering the raybestos superstop rotors for my 99 dak, is there a way you could better explain what the raybestos rep did to ensure no warpage. Thanks- Brian

OK.. I'm really pissed now

I've probably gone through like 9 sets of rotors now and I have only 96k.

4000 miles ago I had Just Brakes replace, the master cyclinder, brake booster, rotors, calipers, pads, drums, all drum parts, and all new brake lines

Well guess what, the rotors are warped again after 4100 miles. God I've spent well over $4000 bucks just on brakes since I've owned this dam truck.

I'm thinking I need that Ford super duty with a Dana 60. Even the new full size rams with the Hemis are having warpage on their rotors after 4-5000 miles.

I wonder if anyone has tried that SSB big brake system with the 14 inch rotors????
