Message: Just got my 98 Club Cab back from the dealer for the wet passenger side flooring problem. He tells me that the A/C drain was plugged (no surprise), but that it was also leaking water through the passenger side weld on the back of the cab. Now I have a nice dollop of silicone caulk on that weld, which should add nicely to the resale value. This is in addition to the leaking 3rd brake light that was fixed under warranty. An angry phone call to Daimler-Chrysler was pretty unsatisfying. Probably my last Dodge truck.

Message: Have had a 4.7 02 Dakota in twice for the wet
passenger carpet. 1st time they said it was
the drain hose that was causing it. Two days
later it was wet again. I sprayed the windsheild
area and door on passenger side and I could swear more water accumulated (I had the edge of the carpet pulled up). Now after the second repair attempt (3 days in the shop) in which they pulled the carpet out to dry and pulled the dash out to repair what they said was a water leak around this drain hose I get it back and now I see water coming directly out of the evap box under the dash - the thing is completely backed up. Back to the dealer again. Has anyone considered trying the lemon law on this problem.

Message: Bill. Any luck with getting this oder issue resolved? I have a 01 Dak wit the same issue. My wife "HAD" a 97 Neon that had the same problem. All the dealership did was spray stuff into the intake vents. I was spun and asked him that if this was his wifes car, would this be a satisfactory fix for him? He told me that he wouldn't buy his wife a Dodge. Go figure...

Message: Have 94 Dakota with 45k miles. Recently have experienced wet passenger side floor. Once when parked with tilt towards driver's side, has a small amount of wetness. Once when parked on a slope downwards, it rained and had no moister on either side. Last two days I have vacuumed 4 1-2 cups from passenger side. Today while driving in the rain (not really hard rain) I noticed the passenger side just filled up with later, actually about 1/4 inch above carpet. I drove 20 miles and returned and this time vacummed 7 cups of water from passenger side. There must be more because carpet and insulation is still damp. Took up door seal panels and lifted carpet up and water was standing in metal pan. Could find no wetness anywhere around the heater-a/c but the carpet just below the unit and just above and to the right of the transmission hump was damp. So must water came in that it was all along to seal and even into the right rear carpet. There must be some major leak somewhere. It doesn't appear to be antifreeze (no smell) and when not raining and using the a/c there is no wetness. I know of 2 other local owners of Dakotas, one 1992, one 1993, and mine (1994) and the two have varing degrees of wetness in their trucks. the 1993 is a king cab exactly like mine and he is having the same problem. The dealer has not fixed it, and have gone the gamit of usual reasons but have never corrected the problem. The 1993, even has same quirk, leave it foreward, no water, lean it towards the driver's side, no water but lean it toward passenger's side or on the level, there is large amount of water collecting in passenger side floor. All this is when it rains and never when the a/c unit is on. I have read so many complaints about these trucks with leaks I have no desire to go into a dealer and end up with complete frustration as I have experienced rather poor service from the dealer already, even when the truck was first delivered, popping ball joints, loss of freon, unable to properly align front end, warping front disks and squeaking rear drums, windshield washers not working. All these within the first 10,000 miles of driving. What a sorry piece of design and workmanship. Never again will I purchase any Chrysler product. But anyone, have any ideas as to how to correct the leakage problem? Help please!!!

Message: I love the style and ride of my dakota, but all the little problems with it due to the lack of something with DC has made me decide to drive this truck until the wheels fall off and never buy another dodge or crysler vehicle again. I wish I had found this site before I spent that money on this truck. I also have the passenger side lake problem, but am out of warrenty, so I'm going to attempt to sit a few days aside sometime, pull my seats and carpet, and go at that damn thing (whenever I find out where it is) with a tube of silicone and hope to get rid of it. It seems like a lot of work to fix something that shouldn't happen. I'm afraid that the carpet my still smell like old water even after it's dry too.

Message: My 1994 Dakota is filling up with water on the drivers side also. I've gone through 2 heater motors because the water gets in there somehow and they start to make bearing noise. It's really getting deep now. When it's full of water, I can take a left-hand corner and hear the water splash in the fan. I think it might be coming from the upper corners of the windshield where the trim has shrunk back and there appears to be a gap. After reading this page, I think I'll fill every seem on the roof with silicon. It's not a pretty rig, but I've loved it since I got it. It runs like a champ. 102,000 miles and still going. Plenty of flaked paint.

Message: I have a 2003 Dakota Quad Cab 4X4. I have the Musty smell in it and have been looking for an answer to the problem. Has anyone had the same problem in newer Dakotas and is it the same fix the same as earlier one's.
Thanks
