Subject: Rattling when in Drive or Reverse IP: Logged
Message: Okay, don't get too tickled if you guys have already talked about this. But When I put my '99 Dakota in Drive or Reverse while I am stationary it gives off a very distinct rattling. For example when I go outside and turn my truck on and toss it into reverse to leave the driveway you hear it VERY well.
Does anyone know what may be wrong with the truck and also how to fix it.
Thanks,
- Mikel

Message: My 2000 Dakota Auto clicks for a few seconds when shifting into drive or reverse. Previous posts on this board indicate this is normal for the Dak auto trans.

Message: Welp I found out what was wrong with my truck and the rattling. The Cadillac Converter*sp* has gone bad. And even better; for some reason its still covered (even though my warranty has gone 19 thousand miles ago)

Message: Let me try this again. The Catalytic Converter went bad. Boy do I feel stupid now.
I was wondering why I had never heard of it before. Now I know. Heh.

Message: Yes I had the same problem and the cat has a longer warrenty on it, I have a 1999, My dad has one also and it has done the same thing. Now to top it of my ABS and Brake lights are both on when just driving down the road, plus my speedometer doesnt work until after 25 MPH. Any help would be great.
